The Cytomegalovirus (CMV) and anti-streptolysin O (ASO) serology kit is used to detect CMV infection in human blood and Streptococcus pyogenes bacteria infection.
CMV can cause encephalitis in the brain, retinitis in the eye, pneumonia in the lungs, gastroenteritis in the stomach and intestines, and can also be a risk to the unborn baby.
    Eating the results:
CMV IgG negative IgM negative Avidity -negative no infection
CMV IgG positive IgM positive Avidity -low acute infection
CMV IgG positive IgM positive Avidity -high reactivation infection
CMV IgG positive IgM negative Avidity -negative history of infection

Anti-streptolysin O (ASO) is an antibody produced by the body against a toxic enzyme (streptolysin O) produced by Streptococcus pyogenes bacteria. This bacterium is the most common causative agent of bacterial pharyngitis and is also the cause of many skin infections (nasal warts, ulcers, pyoderma, cellulitis). The infection can also lead to rheumatic fever, oedema, hypertension, heart damage or a type of kidney disease, glomerulonephritis.

Epstein-Barr virus is one of the herpes viruses. This virus is characterised by the fact that it persists in the body after infection and can reactivate after so-called latency periods. The infection (mononucleosis infectiosavirus mononucleosis) is transmitted by saliva and is usually mild. Symptoms include: fever, sore throat, lymph node swelling, deterioration of liver function. The virus can also sometimes cause lymphoma, nasal and throat tumours.

From EBV EBNA-1 IgG test indicates the incubation period of the virus. A ZEBRA IgM test is used to detect the transition from the latent to the lytic phase of the virus. The EBV VCA IgM and IgG measurements indicate the early stages of viral infection, when the structural proteins of the virus are formed.

  • The tests in the package
    • Infection serology: Epstein-Barr virus infection: Epstein-Barr nuclear antigen specific IgG type antibody (EBV EBNA-1 IgG); Epstein-Barr replication activator (anti-EBV, ZEBRA, EB1, Zta) antigen specific IgM antibody; Epstein-Barr viral capsid antigen specific IgG antibody (EBV VCA IgG); Epstein-Barr viral capsid antigen specific IgM type antibody (EBV VCA IgM)

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacterial infection is the cause of a significant proportion of infections of the digestive tract. In the stomach, it damages the lining and can cause ulcers, reflux and sometimes stomach cancer. It breaks down urea into ammonia and bicarbonate (which is further broken down into water and carbon dioxide), thus reducing the acidic chemistry of the stomach with the alkaline breakdown products. Other effects may include: atherosclerosis, skin diseases, arthritis, bile formation. They can be detected by functional testing (exhalation test), detection of antibodies in blood and antigen in faeces.
    Antibiotics can kill the bacteria.

Helicobacter pylori infection serology package is used to detect antibodies. If IgM is high, it indicates the initial stage of infection, if IgG is high, the infection has been present for longer. The appearance of IgA is rare, but if it is high, the inflammation is greater.

Inflammatory disease of the liver can be caused by many factors (viruses, fungi (rare), chemicals, drugs, alcohol, hereditary diseases or autoimmune processes). Inflammation can be short-lived (acute), which can last for a few months, or it can last for years (chronic).

The symptoms of hepatitis vary greatly from person to person and can vary considerably depending on the time that has passed. Acute hepatitis often presents with few and mild symptoms (fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, fever, abdominal pain), but may also present with jaundice, itching, dark-coloured urine, light-coloured stools. On physical examination the liver is enlarged and tender. Chronic hepatitis is often asymptomatic or the patient may only feel tired and lethargic. However, chronic hepatitis gradually damages the liver and eventually leads to liver failure after many years. The chronic form persists for years and does not resolve without treatment.

The most common cause of hepatitis is virus infection. The hepatitis viruses are called A, B, C, D and E in the order of their discovery.

hepatitis The virus infection spread by water and food (through faeces). Symptoms are similar to flu and often go undiagnosed. A significant proportion of patients recover spontaneously.

hepatitis B virus, the most common cause of viral hepatitis. It is spread sexually, through infected needles or blood. Most patients recover spontaneously. Infection is most dangerous for newborn babies.

The most common cause of acute viral hepatitis is hepatitis With virus B infection. The infection can be spread through sexual contact, contaminated needles, contaminated blood, or even from an infected mother to her newborn baby. Most patients recover without treatment, but about 1-3 % of them will become carriers. Newborn babies are at particular risk of chronic infection.

hepatitis C infection can be spread in rare cases through contaminated blood products from transfusions, needle injections (drug users), contaminated body jewellery, inadequately cleaned tattoo equipment, acupuncture and other invasive alternative treatments. The most common cause of chronic hepatitis, which develops in 55-85% of infected people.

hepatitis D only causes infection if hepatitis B is also present and worsens the symptoms of hepatitis B infection. Hepatitis D is spread by infected transfusion blood products and contaminated needles, similar to hepatitis B.

hepatitis E is most common in Asia, Africa and South America, with a spread similar to hepatitis A.

The kit is designed to detect acute infection and immunity to hepatitis B virus and antibodies to hepatitis C virus.

  • The tests in the package
    • Infection serology Hepatitis B virus infection: anti-HBc (core) hepatitis B Total II, anti-HBs (surface) hepatitis B Total II, HBsAg Ultra Hepatitis B

Our TORCH profile 1 test is a screening test for microorganisms during pregnancy.
Microbial infections can cause serious consequences such as miscarriage, malformations and premature birth.
The name is composed of the initials of the microbes tested: Toxoplasma gondii, "Others", Rubeola virus, Cytomegalovirus, Herpes simplex viruses.

Different TORCH profiles differ in other microbes.

Toxoplasma gondii an single-celled parasite, which is mainly spread by cat faeces or contact with plant food. Soil contaminated with cat faeces can be a source of infection for up to 1 year. Inadequately cooked meat food can also cause such an infection, as the parasite can be present in the muscles of infected animals. Infection is normally asymptomatic but can be more severe in immunocompromised individuals.
During pregnancy, a fresh infection in the mother can cause pathogens to cross the placenta and damage the foetus, resulting in miscarriage, premature birth or foetal malformations.
The screening test is performed to detect IgM and IgG antibodies produced against the pathogen, as well as IgG avidity testing.

Parvovirus B19 virus caused by the butterfly bats (erythema infectiosum, fifth disease, megalarythaemia).
It is spread by droplet infection, causing mainly mild fever and diarrhoea. Patients with about 25% may have bilateral facial redness, rashes on the chest, limbs and arthritis.
Infection during pregnancy can even cause miscarriage or intrauterine death.

Varicella virus Causes chicken pox. Once infected, however, we gain immunity for life.
In pregnant women who are first infected in the first trimester of pregnancy, the virus can cause malformations in the foetus and foetal death in the last trimester.
From shingles is also caused by the varicella virus (Herpes varicella zoster), so the patient can also spread chickenpox. Symptoms: fever, redness, small blisters.

The screening test detects IgM and IgG antibodies produced against the pathogen. Depending on the results, further tests may be performed to clarify the exact serostatus. Your doctor may ask you to send a repeat sample for this purpose.

What do the results mean? In the evaluation of a serological test, susceptibility is indicated if no antibody specific to the pathogen is detected (negative IgM, negative IgG result). In the case of disease progression, only IgG type antibody is detected (in this case, so-called IgG avidity can be tested), IgM type antibody is not present. A positive IgM result may indicate a current (acute) infection, in which case further testing is required.

If the preliminary Toxoplasma serology test confirms the presence of both IgG and IgM antibodies in the sample, it is necessary to repeat the sampling, to observe the so-called titer change and to test the IgG avidity, which helps to determine how "old" the detected IgG antibody is.

Toxoplasma IgG avidity test: (only in case of positive IgG result - additional test) Especially in pregnant women it is important to estimate the approximate time of recent infection. This is done by the Toxoplasma IgG avidity test, which provides information on the strength of antigen-antibody binding. A high avidity indicates a history of infection, whereas a low IgG avidity result may indicate a recent infection.

    C. pneumoniae bacteria cause nearly 10 % of pneumonia. It is spread by droplet infection and usually causes mild symptoms (fever, cough). In the elderly, the risk of developing more severe cases (pneumonia) is higher. It can also develop COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and may play a role in the development of many cardiovascular diseases.

A Mycoplasma pneumoniae bacterium causes mostly mild lower or upper respiratory symptoms. It may also trigger autoimmune mechanisms, resulting in meningoencephalitis, arthritis and gastrointestinal symptoms. Infection does not cause persistent immunity and may occur more than once.

    C. trachomatis bacterium is sexually transmitted. It can cause lower respiratory tract infections and pneumonia (especially dangerous for newborn babies).
